Therapy for Sexual Trauma
I offer compassionate and evidence-based therapy for women who have experienced sexual trauma of any kind.
Maybe you're woman others wouldn't really expect or know that you've had such an experience, but you are. Maybe you've buried the past and tell yourself to just "push through" each day. Maybe you've even become a work-a-holic, or fill your time with endless errands and "to-do's" so you can avoid dealing with that inner critic. But now the suffering you feel in your body is telling you it's time to heal. It's time to find pause and reconnect to you because if you don't, you know you might loose yourself forever. You know it impacts the way you interact with men, you know it's effecting your ability to feel confident, and you don't want to dwell on it, you just want to do something so you can feel better, and now.
Therapy can help you reconnect to you and gain tools to heal from trauma. Our work together will begin with an intake session so we can get to know each other. I'll share with you general information about trauma and how it shows up in one's body and relationships. Then, we'll meet weekly where I will walk along side you, phase by phase, through evidence based protocols in order to support your healing and growth. I will share with you education, tools, and the compassionate space needed to release trauma (at your own pace) and reclaim your mind, body, and soul. Together we'll find the tools that work for you to mitigate your distress and help you feel like the empowered woman you are meant to be.
my approach to healing trauma - somatic therapy
Somatic therapy is a leading, evidence-based approach for treating trauma. It's a body based modality that honors the interconnection between your body and mind. When an individual experiences a threat, their nervous system responds to the threat by building energy to support the individual's capacity to fight or flee. But when someone experiences something traumatic, this energy gets stuck in the body. Somatic therapy focuses on supporting the body's ability to release this stuck energy through movement, meditation, yoga, and guided inquiry into your body's intuition.
The strategies and insights you will learn in our work together are meant to equip and empower your body to heal itself. The somatic modalities I incorporate are inspired by medical meditations from the kundali yogic tradition, Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing, and Mindfulness, as well as research from Bruce Perry and Dan Siegel (leaders in trauma treatment and psychology).
How long? Varies based on individual needs.
How often? Weekly initially.
How much? $190 for an initial intake session (60 minutes) and $160 for a standard (50 min) session thereafter.
Do you take insurance?
Sorry no, but I can provide "out of network" documentation (super bill) you can submit to your insurance to request reimbursement, and please note that not all insurances will reimburse.
Do you offer sliding scale?
I keep two spots open for sliding scale. Sliding scale ranges from $100 to my full rate. Email me to see if I have openings. *** Sliding scale spots are currently full. Please check out www.openpathcollective.org to find other clinicians with sliding scale openings.***
Do you have weekend and evening availability?
Yes. Email me to learn more.
Do you offer remote therapy (phone or video)? Yes but not all trauma treatment can be effectively conducted remotely. For effective trauma treatment we will need to have some sessions in person.
